Junior and Senior Breakup day

maryboroughwestfootballfanclub Posted by maryboroughwestfootballfanclub at 10:49 PM on May 12, 2009

Hi all.

This year for the club breakup and trophy presentation day I am interested in your thoughts of the following idea. Last year we had a great junior breakup day with lots of fun games such as , a water slide (black plastic sheet, soap and a sprinkler), Splat the coach (head through a hole in a door and throw sponges at them), Shoot the hoop, dribbling races, chipping games etc. this went for 2 hours followed by the trophy presentation.

This year, with our goal in mind of combining the juniors and seniors I am interested in presenting the general trophies/medallions for playing to the junior players as well as the senior players on the same day. In other words, the junior breakup day will become a club breakup day featuring a couple of hours of fun games and family interaction followed by a presentation of junior and senior playing/team trophies and also including the junior special trophies ( B&F, Player of the year etc.) The senior special trophies will be presented on the Banquet night. This may well reduce the time spent presenting trophies on this night and fast forward the fun factor of banquet night. Senior teams include, youth, 2nds ladies and 1st.

As with last year on breakup day, most parents and seniors brought a plate and mingled thorough the crowd with food during the games times. I am interested in your thoughts on this idea as I feel it is a great family day and would be greatly appreciated by our junior team to have the seniors there as well. You never know, it may also help improve our 2010 junior player numbers.

Thanks

Mark

It sounds like a great idea, it would also build morale within the club and let the juniors know who the senior players are and everyone can get to know each other.

No sorry Mark great idea but you wont get many adults to junior breakup cause most are busy when break up is on or they just dont want to deal with little kids. Although mine still are little sort of. Even my bigger boys did not want to go to breakup cause its for the little kids not them???

I really like to give the trophies out at adult breakup its gets more to come as they have to pick up their trophy, if you do it other way you will loose maybe half going to breakup. I like Hans breakup idea but dont think that will work for ladies and i still liked the bare foot bowls sorry im just old.
